Placentia Red Ribbon Week 2009

Red Ribbon Week evolved out of the murder of an undercover DEA agent Enrique "Kiki" Camerena. This man went into Mexico to help find drug operators who were sending illicit drugs into the United States. The remembrance of his death and thus this man's ultimate sacrifice is now a major drug prevention program. October is the typical time for this event and NW contest.

The Placentia Neighborhood Watch and Placentia Police sponsor a poster and essay contest for elementary schools within Placentia. Every year elementary schools within Placentia City are invited to participate. This year only Morse Elementary School got involved with the contest.

Prior to the contest taking place, Neighborhood Watch and the Placentia Police Department ask local businesses to donate prize items for the contest. The following businesses sent prize items:
