West Yorba Linda Being Hit With Burglaries (7/09)

At least twenty burglaries have taken place in the first three months of the 2009 year in the western part of Yorba Linda. One of the Placentia police officers thinks that two Placentia burglaries which took place in April might match the same method. The method employed runs something like this. The burglars target apartments and condos where the primary entrance is a sliding glass door. The criminals gain access to the outside of the sliding glass door and check to see if they can visually see anything of value just inside the door that they can quickly snatch and escape with. If they see any enticing item, they try to open the door, enter the residence, snatch the items, and escape. Please take steps to lock your doors and windows. The Brea Police have found out that some individuals returning home, lay down a purse, laptop or some other valuable item but fail to lock the door.
